New York Attorney Paul E. Walker Defends Health Care Professionals

Paul E. Walker is a partner at Peltz & Walker, a New York litigation firm, specializing in defense for medical malpractice, license revocation, alleged professional medical misconduct and physician disciplinary action brought by The Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC).

Paul E. Walker is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and earned his law degree from Fordham Law School. After Dickinson and before Fordham, Mr. Walker served for five years as an officer in the United States Navy.

After graduating from Fordham he  became associated with Anthony L. Schiavetti, Esq., the in-house law firm for Employers Insurance of Wausau, in New York City. With that office, Mr. Walker specialized in the defense of medical malpractice cases. In 1979, he joined Alexander Peltz in private practice.

Mr. Walker has tried in excess of 125 cases to verdict in the New York state and the federal district courts. The subject matters of these cases are varied and include all branches of medical practice.

A great deal of Mr. Walker’s practice over the last twenty years has been taken up by the representation of physicians, nurses and other health care providers when there are issues with the NYS Department of Health and Department of Education.  This part of the practice consists of regular appearances at the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, OPMC, and at the Office of Professional Discipline, OPD.

Because of the extreme seriousness of these licensure issues, it is mandatory that the highest level of attention be brought to bear on the subject. All clients are given a clear understanding of the potential outcome of an OPMC or OPD of investigation and are advised how best to deal with all aspects of this type of litigation.

Mr. Walker has given numerous presentations before medical groups and hospitals regarding risk management and how to deal with OPMC and OPD investigations. He is a faculty lecturer at the Hospital for Special Surgery Annual Knee Symposium and Hospital for Special Surgery Alumni Spine Symposium and has also lectured at Volunteer Attending Physicians educational seminars.

Mr. Walker is the past President of the New York State Medical Malpractice Defense Association and has been selected as a New York Super Lawyer, a selection process that involves peer nominations, panel reviews and independent research of candidates.

Mr. Walker is admitted to practice in New York State and to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals. He has an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell. .
